My inner world

Charcoal drawings, collages , monotypes and installation

My personal myth is a mix of visible reality and illusion, which includes many mythical and magical creatures that also appear in old Armenian culture. Based on my personal feelings I create my own mythical, illusionary world in which man, the transience of things and the transformation that creates new life become and endless event. I try to find silence in the canvas, which creates a transformed image between our thoughts, reality, feelings and emotions. A world of secrets, meetings, surprises, discoveries and harmony, in which time does not exist, but you meet and discover your own self; a place where I can talk about my inner reality. These stories and starting points refer to a reality from a new atmosphere, that leads to new meanings and quests. Everything comes and goes or gets a new shape, dimension or value.

Through everyday stress you lose contact with your inner silence, with yourself. There you can feel your real presence in the everlasting. Here I discover a totally new world that takes place inside me.

Animals, people and objects for me are a way to communicate human emotions and feelings, that I express in my inner world of feelings and become part of my mythical imagination.

In my paintings, silence is shown in stages, in which the process has already been transformed. I also show how the visible world is transformed by a mythological change in shape. We spend our whole lives in this process, that is depicted by birth, death, transformation, hybridised animals and human strangeness.

This collage considers the dialogue between the unknown world, the embrace, the warm feeling, the feeling of melody and movement, rhythm and the invisible colours of life. The universe is always moving, nothing stands still. There is movement in the air, the movements of the planets, of light, of birds, fish in sea, animals and nature. Everything is moving. People are movement. Every movement has its own rhythm and a kind of musical language, that creates something. Movement is the breath of nature. Movement creates life.

This drawing relates to every new day, in which you should not stop looking for new challenges and wisdom in your life and development. Like an alchemist makes gold out of cheap metal, humans can do this to: make a boring day into gold. A new day begins because the rooster tries to wake everyone. On its back it carries a fish, that symbolizes the baggage of the spiritual world. A fish is the baggage of wisdom that one has collected for years.

Sometimes you have inexplicable feelings of explosion, that you make happen automatically. Anger is not always negative; it can destruct, and sometimes you lose control and you simply have to let things happen as they happen in the moment.

This is one of a series of self-portraits. The portrait depends on the day: you wake up and you’re in a certain mood, that can be good or less good. You don’t know why the day starts like this; and suddenly your mood changes, you are happy and powerful and have a different mood.
